forgot about matchbox! 😣 had lots of those too. I can still picture that orange hot wheels track. Had quite a few steel Tonka trucks too. They were pristine! Man, I could be sitting on a gold mine right now :cwl: If we could only go back!
Go back and put a single penny into a fresh starting Microsoft company... More importantly, save the toys hahaha! My favorite were the Matchbox signature series with real rubber tires and actual working suspension. Some great cars for sure! I also remember the orange hot wheels track although I never had any, friends did. My brother would make use of our bunk bed frame and tie the sheets in specific places to make a sort of track for my hot wheels. Being 7 years older than me, his engineering talents far surpassed mine at that time.

No pics to share but I did make a silly mistake with the spoiler. pretty much need to sand it down and start over because paints declared war. I sprayed it and it ended up jumping to some other wet paint. After seeing some others finished works, I may just not put on the spoiler and louvers anyway. This kit also comes with a shaker hood scoop and a 428 engine if you want to mix it up a bit. I've never been one for stock and it's early enough, I can go whichever way I want still. Currently going for a full black metallic (looks dark grey) hood vs decal or 90% black like the car came from factory. The rear deck with taillights is the same black metallic and I was doing the spoiler the same color too. The thing about this car for me was how cool the flat black spoiler looked against the yellow or green. Not so much against the darker red I chose. Now I'm also thinking I may paint the chrome bumpers the same black metallic and maybe the wheels too. More of a custom look without any chrome is my style... Still pondering while sitting at my desk this very slow work day.

I still have 2 hours to go. Drive my stang every day as it's my only car. This morning was the first rain in months so a little slick out so drove accordingly. Been raining all day as is typical here in WA. I can't wait to do more to this model and I think I will now go the anti chrome route. I also found and will order in a few minutes some disk brakes! So the custom wheels with the bigger openings will show off the disk brakes and look super cool! No clue what kind of work is needed but it'll be worth it I'm sure. This kit also comes with 1/4 window side scoops but no clue why or where they would even go on this kit.

This took my Friday nights worth of focus. Very happy how it came out! And that’s a dime for reference.

...I still have some kits the Grandson got his Gramma to buy. I told
him not to get them if he wasn't gonna put 'em together.

But Papaw, he'd say. I want you to help me, so we'd start. Next thing I
knew, he's gone off somewhere, so I'd pick up the parts and put
them back in the box.
Still have a couple boxes that have 'never been opened.'

My Boy. How I LOVE him.......................:computerrage:

Man this thing is going to look so cool! Painting the bumpers and wheels the same gun metelish as the hood. Should look pretty sweet!

This nose is looking sooo great!! I’m hoping to continue this quality throughout. Just now starting to actually build the engine. Glued some before painting.

And I guess I’ll call it quits now that it’s 3:45am here. Painted and put together most of the 302 engine. Wheels painted. Tomorrow will be a few more coats on the bumpers and rear deck in the “paint booth” and some finer details on the main body. Really hope I don’t completely screw up the body as it looks amazing. But I want to paint the wipers, battery, and vent in front of the windshield. Seeing others finished products is making me up my game.

Thanks! I still need to get a magnifying lamp for sure! Very surprised how the front emblem came out. Took all the focus it almost gave me a weird head high for a few minutes. My hands are not very steady at all and I totally thought I would experiment and then just repaint it all black again. But it came out awesome! Engine glued together now so moving on while it sets.

And done till my disk brakes come in. Everything is painted and assembled as far as it can go. Will be modifying to makes brakes and wheels work and that will be fun. 000 is my favorite brush for sure!
