All done!! Okay so the brakes and custom wheels didn’t work out. The items are great but just ended up not matching the cars scale. One set was smaller and the other bigger. So went with the stock wheels and painted them. Love this thing!

Now you need to find a real one and add it to the stable 😁

Oh that would be amazing. I want to build a classic car so bad. Piece by piece learning as I go. I want a classic mini. They have some crate engines for them that push more than twice the NA hp than they had on race tracks. Tiny car + too much hp = fun times.

As recommended by @Bikeman315 my next model will be a P-51 Mustang. Thinking silver with the nose color matching the car I just built. Tamiya makes a few kits and I think I need the 500+ piece 1/32 version. Insane amount of detail to keep me busy and it's the closest I'll get to match the scale of the car. Then I'll build a case for both of them I think.

Your Mach1 looks great. I love building models and mainly work on them in the winter. I built the 1/48 scale Tamiya P-51. I like that scale for airplanes. Thanks for starting this thread!

I only hope my Tamiya 1/32 P-51 comes out as great as yours looks! Never built a plane model before. Still undecided if I want landing gear up or down, scoop under the plane is one of my favorite parts.

Man this thing is going to look so cool! Painting the bumpers and wheels the same gun metelish as the hood. Should look pretty sweet!

Think about not laying down such heavy coats. Air brush is a friend, if the color is from a spray bomb, multi coats. Allowed to dry, read can for timeing. That way the paint has a chance to flatten and pick up the details of the parts/body.
As it is now they are being covered and muted by the paint.

My way of waiting for the Mustang to be delivered after ordereing LMAO

I've improved a ton since I was a kid but still heavy spray like crazy. Still learning or trying to learn patience lol. Started white plastic and first coat was actually pink. I have 6 or 7 coats on it. I totally get what you're saying though. That truck looks soooo awesome!!!!

Cool, understand impatience for sure. A gray first coat will enhance the color, gray is neutral.

As you saw first coat looked pink, white was bleeding thru. It's all fun and a great diversion from the TV .

One more FYI, when you get the color on, and notice holidays in the coverage. Lighter areas, let the model set and dry completely, smell it when you can no longer smell the paint it's cured.

Then shoot a light wet coat to even the coverage out.

Cheers

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
Sometimes I rush my modeling, which generally leads to poor execution. Just like car wrenching, I have to slow the process. I will take on a project like this Mclaren M8D Can Am car. A very complicated model that tests all of your patience. You have to slow down and think about your every move.

Great tips, thank you!! Will have to use it on this plane so I don’t wash out the rivets and stuff.

It’s arrived!! Can’t do too much as the glue and paints aren’t quite here yet. This is going to be a while but I’ll try to take pics and update as I go. Extremely well packaged and insane quality! Makes the Revel and AMT car kits look terrible in comparison lol. This kit is easily way above my skill level but I hope to do it justice the best I can. Slow and steady right? Comes with a display stand for the options of landing gear up or down. Because I like the scoop on the bottom of the plane so much I’ll be using the stand for sure. It also looks like you might be able to change it fairly easy as pieces are screwed into place instead of glued. But then there’s also an option to leave a wing access panel open to see the ammo for the guns…will have to think on it I guess lol. This thing is so cool!!
