Well f***.

I managed to hit a pothole that was deep enough to damage my wheel, cut my tire. It doesn't look like the tire damage is very deep, and I can live with the cosmetic issue, or even just use a little rubber glue to fix the flap.

The wheel damage is a little more than just surface, but I'm figuring just some touch up paint applied liberally, and it'll pretty much disappear (bonus for black, painted wheels).

Pic below, what do you think?

Yeah, it's a bummer, I'm pretty careful with my stuff, and I don't even have to DD my GT. Sometimes we just take the T4R into the old city, since it's a little more forgiving of crapped out roads (and it can climb over curbs as needed :D)

This is a little side street behind the college theater, I should've been extra careful, I know those roads aren't the best.

I "Sharpied" the wheel, the ding almost disappeared since it's mostly just the color contrast that makes it stand out.

I also looked at the tire again, I mean, it is pretty minimal, it's not anyway near the cords, that section of the tire is super thick - I'm not going to put myself in a dangerous situation, but it really doesn't look like there'd be any problem.

You need to consider that part of your tire a weak point. The tires are made of a certain thickness to handle hot and cold temps. Look at this the same way as you having a sidewall rib. In the event of extrem heat, the possibility of having a blowout is greater.
