You don't want to use a tire older than 7-10 years depending on storage condition. The primary danger to tires is ozone, which breaks rubber bonds and leads to cracking and rot, and oxygen which causes hardening (especially in light). Cold isn't too bad if the tires are unloaded, but performance tires shouldn't be stored where they will see big temp swings. If you plan to stockpile tires, store them indoors, unmounted from wheels, individually wrapped in heavy contractor-style trash bags, and squeeze out excess air. Do not store them near electric motors or other ozone sources, or in sunlight.Anybody have a problem with storing a set of new tires for a year or so? They`d be inside the house cool and dry?
