Just curious…Do most of you use a memory saver when installing a new battery?

No, there's no real point. The smart charging system in the car runs checks and adaptations and you actually wouldn't want the car to think it's still the same battery. Back when I was testing different Antigravity batteries there'd be days when I'd swap out batteries 5 times in the day without any issue.

DaveJP,

I disagree simply from the standpoint that not using a saver causes all your OBD II readiness monitors to reset so you'll have to do one or more drive cycles to get them to become ready.

If you're unfortunate enough to change your battery shortly before you need to get smog checked (if your state does this) you may be forced to perform drive cycles under deadline pressure to get it to pass. I had a hell of a time getting my monitors to become ready one time so will be very careful to use a saver from now on. I have the one from Antigravity.

In a situation like that I'd agree.

Good point. I can reset the battery management system with my scanner while all other readiness monitors would stay intact.
