Map light problem

I have a weird problem with the map lights in my 17 GT. When either door is opened, the map lights come on like they are supposed to. But with the doors closed, pressing the button on the map lights does nothing. This happens with the headlights on or off, so don't think related to headlights.

What are the odds that BOTH the driver and passenger manual activation buttons went bad at the same time? That's the only thing I can think of. The lights are obviously receiving power. Any ideas? Thanks.

Has to be two separate feeds, one from the door switches (recieving power) and the other (buttons) has to be fed from a different source, and pretty sure that source would be unswitched, for at least the duration prior to the RAP timeout. Have you checked fuses?

Weird. I modified my map lights on two s550s (there was a thread a while back on how) to be switched, to not come on when the door was opened. I wonder if someone tried to do that and failed. Pretty easy to pull the light down and check it out.

Thanks, guys. I haven't checked any fuses yet because I was thinking if the lights work when the door is opened, they are getting power and the fuse can't be blown. Didn't think of two separate circuits. I'll check the manual for any applicable fuses. It's got to be a fuse.

I haven't done any light mods (other than changing the bulbs years ago to LEDs) with either Forscan or hard wiring things.
