Hey all, hoping someone here can help me out.

I got my Magnaflow Competition Catback system for my '15 GT manual coupe, and went to installing it today. Got the old exhaust off fine, got the x pipe on fine, got the passenger side mid-pipe and muffler on perfectly.

Problem #1 - When I went to attach the driver side mid pipe to the x pipe, it was SUPER tight; something didn't seem right from then on.

Problem #2 - The exhaust hanger on the driver side was about 1" farther to the rear of the car

Problem #3 - The piping was rubbing against the underside of the car right beside the hanger. Also, the passenger side mid pipe could be turned to snug right up diff, but the driver side was sitting about 1" lower, and because it was so tight, I couldn't twist it to set it straight.

I have added a picture of where the Magnaflow piping was rubbing. (The exhaust on it in the picture is the factory one).

When I did manage to get the driver side muffler attached to it (with excessive swearing I might add), it was rubbing on the rear bumper, and not fitting anything like the passenger side. Zero movement to get it into position.

Can someone please tell me what the heck is going on?

Is there a Magnaflow rep on here to save the day?

Thanks all!

Is the driver side pipe fully inserted all the way into the connection on the x-pipe?

Right, try flipping your x-pipe over.
Or it's not sitting level, or angled up or down on one side. all my fitment problems with the pass side of my MBRP I traced back to the midpipe out of alignment. Corrected that and my installation was perfect.

As a couple of guys said above....try flipping the x-pipe over. I had fitment issues with mine as well, I flipped the Xpipe over and everything fell into place much much better. Seems odd but it worked for me.

I'm heading to Meixco for a week, but I'll definitely try this when I get back. My only concern with this is that the outputs on the X pipe are not even length. The one I was using for the passenger side was about 1" longer. If i flip the X pipe over, the driver side is going to have even a tougher time and be 1" longer still.

Also, I'm looking right at the box, Part #19101 - 2015 Ford Mustang 5.0L Coupe/Convertable. Doesn't look like I was given the wrong part.

Thanks again for any and all help!

I measured it out roughly and just based on the enlarged end of the mid piping, looks like it SHOULD be able to go another 3/4", but I had it in a vice and was hammering on the thing with a rubber mallet, didn't give at all.

Since it uses slip joints, you can twist and rotate and clock things however you see fit, and you can insert the connections however deep to lengthen or shorten the joints. Once all installed and adjusted, mine fits perfectly.

I can imagine that before its all adjusted and tightened that it might appear as if it doesnt line up right... but it will.

Hi we'd be happy to help you get to the bottom of the issue. The previous posts held some good advice on things to try. We would first recommend inspecting the slip-joints to make sure they are not damaged. Sometimes during delivery, the couriers can really smack the boxes around and the pipe openings can become bent, causing them not to mate correctly. Another thing we can note here is to not bottom out the slip joints completely into each other.

Secondly, as mentioned, the X pipe can often be installed upside down. You want to ensure the longer leg of the X pipe is on the passenger side.

With those points considered, you can usually solve any fitment issues by going back and loosening all the clamps, twisting/readjusting the pipes where necessary, and then re-tightening the clamps starting from the front of the car.

If you are still experiencing fitment issues after this, please PM us or call our customer service line (1-800-990-0905) with some detailed pictures. If there's anything else we can do to help in the meantime, just let us know!
