I have my heart set on one of these but I'm not really getting a good feel for the volume difference between the two from the videos I've watched.

Any of you happen to have experience?

My mustang is my DD so I'd like to avoid something too loud, but at the same time I want some good volume.

My current catback seems like a great volume right now. Pretty sure once I do the header swap she's going to be screaming

It definitely has a drone at 2k in 6th. But it doesn't bother me at all.

Drone doesn't bother me. I don't think anything will ever be worse than my 91 Honda Accord straight piped to a glass pack....and I put some miles on that thing. For the record, I bought it that way.

I'm primarily concerned about (avoiding) breaking that threshold between, "Damn that sounds good" and "Christ that's loud."

I have the competition style mufflers on my GT, not the catback kit, just mufflers, and the drone with the H pipe was so bad I had to go back to the stock resonator. I want to get some J pipes done, just haven't had the money. My coworkers wants me to go with the street style mufflers, but I don't want to lose the sound.

This was my first sports car, I've never had a loud exhaust before on anything. I found a sweet deal on a Magnaflow Competition catback on craigslist ($600) that I couldn't pass up. After installing it I was amazed with the sound, it wasn't to loud (for me) and sounded what I thought a muscle car should sound like. Fast forward a couple of months and I pick my take a 1000 mile road trip to pick up my daughter for the summer. I bought her a set of nice headphones just in case it was to loud for her. She likes the headphones but she has no issue with not wearing them. She hasn't complained once about the sound.

I was a little bit concerned with drone with some of the feedback on these forums for the Magnaflow Competition catback. Got it anyways and couldn't be happier. Yeah it drones in 6th under 70mph under load. Gets better after 1000 mile break in. I don't spend much time below 70 anyways so no hair off my back.

I have had the MF street series cat back system on my GT since February...couldn't be happier!

We ran the competition axleback on our car along with our H pipe resonator delete and the car sounded pretty awesome. As others mentioned there was a little drone at certain rpm's but otherwise the system fit perfect and sounds great.

Here's a video we did with that combo.

We also offer special pricing for Lethal Performance customers through our customer loyalty program. Here's a link which explains it.

I think the Street version is perfect for those who want an aggressive tone, without too much exaggeration or drone. Younger people will probably prefer the Competition.
