I can't think of two more different cars for two very different purposes than a M6 vs a GT350.

I would have a really hard time buying an M2 over an M3/4. They are too close in price IMO to make the decontented M2 worth it. For the extra 10-12k you really get a lot more with the M3/4. I know 10-12k is a lot of money, but you are most like going to spend 55k on the M2 and might as well go the extra ten and get a much nicer overall car in the M4.

The M2 is truly a parts bin special and another big profit margin vehicle IMO for BMW.
I think the m2 appeal is it's handling and size. M4 is a big car and worse every reviewer has said the m2 is a better car.

They don't really handle that different though (from talking to people I trust) and the M2 is a bit smaller, but weighs barely less than an M4.

They really could've made the M2 a very special/much more capable car, but decided not to so it didn't encroach on the M4s sales.

I guess that is my problem with the M2. It is slotted kind of funky in the lineup. It isn't that much different from an M240 inside. The M240 actually has a newer engine. And it isn't diffent enough from the M4 driving wise. It is very decontented when it comes to the engine, configurability with driving modes and especially the interior. It retains the same cheap Dakota leather that the regular cars have and BMW doesn't even give you an option for cloth seats.

I'm going to have to drive a manual M4 sometime, I've driven a DCT car and a manual M2, and the latter felt way more engaging, more immediate - maybe it was psychological, i.e., knowing the M2 is a little smaller, less wheelbase, a touch lighter, sounded better - or maybe the manual really made the difference, but for the price difference, I'd take the M2.

I think that slot is the appeal. I really liked the size and the flares. I actually like no options I think my order was 51700 so that was 14k under a m4 I think at 70+k I'd go used 911 turbo

Too each his own, everybody is different. Having had an M4 it would of been really hard for me to lose what BMW easily could've left in the M2 when it comes to configurability and some other things.

I wonder if you really could've gotten a car at that price. I've seen some similiar games being played by dealers with the M2 that we've seen with the GT350. The only one I've seen for sale in my area is 67k because they added all of the M performance goodies and a little bit of ADM I believe.

Well I had 2 deposits, one dealer I found out was selling the allocations for 10k over, the other dealer was unresponsive.

Then I found out about the gt350 and it was more appealing

Sorry, not following what you are trying to say.

FYI, you can get a base 6MT M4 for less then 65k, maybe even out the door if your timing is right.

For one, parts bin special or not, on track it's just as fast, if not faster than the m4. For 2, your under the assumption that for 65k you can get an m4 with Any options. 65k gets you a "decontented" base m4 with Zero options, whereas for 60k, you pretty much get a fully optioned m2. For 65k all your getting is a larger car, and if you Want "a much nicer overall car" your going to spend easily upwards of 75k, on stuff that has no effect on performance. For the money, as far as M cars go, an M2 is buy far the better buy at least coupe wise.

You obviously do not know the difference between what a "fully loaded" M2 has and a base M4 does. A fully loaded M2 is still leaving out a ton of options the base M4 has that actually have to do with driving.

The M2 is basically faster on smaller tracks and if you are buying a dedicated track car you aren't looking at either of these two anyway. You also daily drive these on the road and the base M4 has much more to offer in that regard than the "loaded" M2 IMO.
