Anybody running something like this? When i first installed my longtubes i didnt have a catback, so i ran open headers for a week. love the beastly roar but way to loud for daily driving. im wondering if i can run a cutout right after the headers so i can choose when i want that loud noise. Suggestions? is this even possible?

Please, please, please don't do this. When I picked up my latest 03 Cobra it had a custom X Pipe with electric cutouts. I promptly took them off and sold them. It sounded god awful with LT's and cutouts open. It's loud, yeah and sounds like total sh$t. All it did was add more weight.

The only gain is on sound if you like that. You won't gain a thing on performance over a 3" system.

As of today I'm running cat delete pipes and stock cat back. I removed my borla s types with x-pipe due to it being too loud for DD 1 1/2 hours to and back from work. For cruising it's perfect, zero drone and quiet during cruising. However I'd like to have it louder for when I hit the track or just having fun on the weekends at the canyons. My plan is to remove the stock resonator "suitcase" and replace it with two Magnaflow straight thru 3" mufflers with an H-pipe. Then, right before the stock mufflers I would install the cutouts with turndowns for now. I think having the mangaflows and placing the cutouts out back will control the sound and not have an obnoxious sounding exhaust. I eventually would like to add the Roush rear valance for a quad tip set up and running my cutout all the way back with tips and kind of have an "active" exhaust without paying $$$ for the Roush setup. What do you guys think?

Maybe just go GT500 axle backs. That would probably get you to the balance you're looking for combined with the cat delete.

To your point, if you're using the magnaflow straight mufflers the cutouts may not be insanely terrible sounding but will definitely be loud as hell.

Good idea on the GT500 axle backs! Does it mater what year GT500? I'll check into them. Are they quiet during cruising?

Someone on here bolted up 2011's I think. Not sure if the 13/14 Quads bolt up or not.

I'm going to try the GT500 mufflers as you mentioned and later add e-cutouts. I found a sweat deal on ebay for under 150 shipped.
