Am the only one who didn't know the center console locks if the car is locked & the door is open?

FRUSTRATING!

The last thing I do is typically store charging cords or loose items in the console when I leave the car. Some times I couldn't get it open. The other day I realized it only happens if the door is open and locked. Door open & unlocked, it opens.

A nice security feature I guess if you know about it.

Yup, one of the earliest things that I accidently found it similarly. I thought I broke something. It didn't occur to me until I read the manual that's suppose to happen! Pretty cool feature if you ask me. I've been pretty pleased with these hidden cool features in the Mustang. If only the little nuance from the noisy cabin from manufacturer defects would be addressed in the production line (noisy glove compartment, whistling passenger window, etc.)

That makes sense , but it begs the question : why would someone want to lock an open door ??
Maybe this feature is practical for convertibles.

This is part of the security package option and standard on convertibles.

Because it unlocks as soon as you open it. When I park the car in the garage, I open the door & then lock it on the door to save battery on the fob. Sometimes I'd forget to stow something & realize after I'd already locked the door.
