Hey folks, I wanted to capture some real data on this issue. There is so much information/misinformation out there, I wanted to see who actually has had a failure. Please vote No if you haven't had any failures.

If you have had a failure feel free to post the circumstances of your failure, and what year and mods you have.

BTW, I have another poll specific to the voodoo platform, so if you have a GT350, please mosy on down to this thread and vote here:

Mine had not failed but I have now changed them for billet items.

This was done to help make the car more saleable when I decide to move it on. I know the first question I would get is have they be done.

Original gears looked good, just usual signs of wear. Car was 50k miles when I swapped them.

Didn't even know this was an issue. Is this something that mostly happens on FI cars?

Looks to be no one, at least not yet. I only have ~3k on mine though. Does the problem come up on higher mileage cars (30k or more)?

It has happened on high RPM forced induction cars.

No idea if any NA cars have suffered from it.

This is the thing, I think parts vendors make us think that this failure is a lot more common than it truly is on 15+ cars. I believe Ford has made changes in the manufacturing to make them stronger but not bullet proof.

I am going Forced Induction (TT), but I am not upgrading the gears like everyone says you have to. Atleast not for awhile. Maybe on supercharged applications it is more warranted due to the additional crank stress, but still I think this issue is blown out of proportion, and I wanted to see some real data on the issue.

It has happened on FI cars. Then again, there are MANY FI cars that it didn't happen to. Don't regularly bounce it off the rev limiter or rev it to the stratosphere all the time and you'll most likely be fine. I never changed mine.

yes this seems to be the consensus, but this is why im doing the poll so we can get some numbers to what we believe is the case.

Hey guys, don't vote if you have replaced your gears for billet ones before they may have failed. This will skew the numbers.
