In my younger years it was all about drag racing. Wednesday night street legal drags, Ford vs Chevy events and the occasional test and tune have been my 1320 experience. None of that prepared me for FL2K. This event at Bradenton Motorsports Park brought out some seriously fast cars. Probably the first time I actually felt like I was in Fast and the Furious.
This was the longest amount of time I had spent in Florida. I quickly came to realize that the weather and humidity are no joke. Friday’s qualifying got rained out and they had to cancel the rest of the day. Saturday was perfect and brought a packed house. There was nothing to prepare me for some of the amazing hardware and beautiful women to be found at the racetrack. The ladies just don’t show up to track events like this where I am from.
The overall vibe at the event was amazing. I really enjoyed the amount of diversity in the cars and people at the event. There was something for everyone to appreciate and tons of good people just there to enjoy the automotive culture. Being there to support our partner Coastal Dyno and David Bishop totally made the trip worthwhile. Even got the chance to meet the 8 second man Steven Nestore, Ken Bjonnes and Brooks from Drag Times.
I can see FL2K being moved to an even bigger venue next year since the movement of people and cars is chaotic at times. If you get to attend I do not think you will be disappointed. Especially with the Bikini Contest.
