Let’s Talk About Beer

I like most beers but I'm not the biggest IPA fan. I homebrew and it's a lot of fun to know what all goes into a high quality beer and be able to use that to produce some interesting beers that may otherwise be hard to find locally. Right now I have a holiday red ale, spiced, aging in rum-soaked oak, and a porter aging in bourbon-soaked oak. While making the porter I quickly soaked the grains in smoked whiskey and boiled off the alcohol to leave the flavor profile behind. I taste tested it a week ago after aging in the bourbon-oak for two months and it's warm, rich beer. Yum!

I like all beer but I guess I’m an odd one out here as I like hazy NEIPAs...and I’m the furthest thing from a skinny jean-wearing hipster lmao. I try my best to drink local, Pittsburgh, brews. If I drink something national, it’s usually Bells Two Hearted, Sierra Navada’s Hazy Little Thing, or if I’m drinking cheap, Yuengling.

Love hazy IPA. Was in Asheville last weekend - breweries everywhere. Wicked Weed Coastal Love IPA my current favorite. Hazy Little Thing close second.
