Lol not a Robinson. I would like to visit Niihau one day but I don't have hawaiian blood so there goes that. That really sucks. Sorry to hear that. You're not a Robinson, are you?
I've seen it change dramatically too - almost from one year to the next. Hopefully you can keep a base there while also enjoying all the benefits and possibilities of not needing a five-hour flight for lots of things. I've always wondered, whenever Valley Isle Motors has ended up with a GT500, especially given fuel prices and the steep ADM, exactly where could obe drive it that would make 662HP worth having?
Having been born in Chicago and lived in New Jersey for an eternity, I'm no stranger to jacked up local politics. But Hawaii plays in a whole different league which, if nothing else, is fascinating. I just can't believe how much the simple existence of a Costco and Home Depot have changed some of the basic economics so dramatically.
Good luck!
The Auto Dealer scene is dominated by a company and 2 families.: Servco, The Tony Group and the Cutter Family. There are the smaller dealerships (Honolulu Ford and Windward Ford and the other small ones) but its those above mentioned three that gets the most business. The can play the most games with you and they can because there is no other competition ( I can't say "oh ill just drive 2 hours to another dealership in another county) I have heard of people buying cars from California and shipping it to hawaii because the deals were better and even with shipping it probably would come out cheaper (I can't confirm that)
