My GSD fits perfectly fine. Car is only a few days old, so it was her first time in there, I didn't get a chance to snap a pic. Here she is though...spoiled rotten.

I have the rear seat delete and my German Shepherd fits just fine back there. Two dogs that size might be a little tight. I doubt they would both be able to lay down comfortably.

Thanks, this is my worry. Did you get the seat delete specifically for your GS and does it make much difference comfort wise? :)

I did, yes. I take a 5 hour road trip every couple of months and the rear seats were too contoured (bucket-ish?) for her to get comfortable. The delete leaves a flat surface she can lay or stand on. The bottom part definitely needs to be reinforced though.

Thank you Horde5.0. For all the silliness in this this thread (loving it), between EcoSwag1990's contribution above and your own there might just be the makings of a solution...for short hops, anyhow.:)

Just wanted to drop my two cents in here. I have a Golden Retriever as well. I make a 4 hour trip from my college town to home a couple times a month and my boy Bentley always comes with me because I don't trust my room mates to take care of him. I fold the seats down in the back and slide the passenger seat forward. When I tell him to get in, he puts his two front paws in the passenger rear floorboard and then maneuvers his back legs in then hops up on to the lowered seats. Has no problem whatsoever. I do lay down a big quilt though. It covers half the trunk space and wraps under the folded seats to keep it from falling off. He lays down back there no problem. Sometimes even crawls in to the trunk area to lay down. Also, I usually put a cloth over the center console lid because when I get gas and such, he stand up in the back and puts his front paws on the center console to get the best view. Really the only downside is the wet nose marks on the windows and the stupid amounts of dog hair that he sheds all over the rear area. Once I have a beater SUV to carry him around in, I plan on removing all the seats from the car and doing a deep clean. Anyways, good luck! Sorry for a wall of text!

Thanks for the info - it seems that one dog is going to fit without much modification (to the seats I mean, not the dog :)). Wish our Golden was as good a traveler; he runs and hides every time I reach for the keys. Could be my driving of course...;)

My dogs stay at least 50' from my Boss at all times....Chihuahua and Min Pin Mix.

Haha, I'm wondering is that because they're nervous of the car or you're nervous of what they'll to it with razor sharp teeth? :D

Yeah, we have two dogs, but they never go in the mustang! That's what my truck is for.

Ours are shorthaired dogs (pit bulls), but they leave a mark on any vehicle; hair mostly, slobber, nose prints on windows, nail scratches on leather. I love 'em but no way are they getting in the mustang. I'm sure precautions could be taken, and everyone may not have a choice sometimes, but if you have a different vehicle, use it!
