I was in pump gas tune driving to work and when I pulled up to a car beside me I heard a tapping echo off his car and when I pulled into work that's when I noticed the knock. Not bummed because I know it was going to happen eventually. Oil pressure and temp was also normal and I was running amsoi full syn. With mmr opg
Damn!! Sorry to hear this. Rebuilds are not fun $$$ unless you have a shop and a good friend with a machine shop. If ya don't mind me asking how were you tuned?

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for a failure. You can always do things to prevent it but some things are always going to be out of your control.
No offense and I'm not criticizing, but this thread seems to be full of wishful thinking. I like to look at everything as risk reward. If everyone figures out the risk in their individual setup, I feel like it might help determine what issues might come. In the last few weeks there's been like 3 or 4 of these threads pop up. While even a stock motor could blow up, there is obviously a limit to these Coyotes. I really am no expert but I would like to start a thread where we could compile research and find out what the damage actually is, and the suspect in damage. Maybe then we could find the weak link and the limit if we want to keep internals stock. People have mentioned possible weak links:

1. OPG
2. Tune
3. Fuel Quality
4. Oil Weight
5. Power Level
6. Pulley Tension (or something like this)
etc....

I have YET to see a report of Roush/Ford Racing Blower setup WITH the tune that comes with it hurt a motor yet. With that being said, I'm pretty sure EVERY single one that has done damage so far has been a custom tune. Everyone complains that the canned tunes run "pig rich," but if that means safe then it's good for everyone to know. With all this being said, would people be supportive of starting a broken motor thread with details?

In other words lets work together with facts. There are so many things that can cause a blown/popped engine. Buddy of mine some years ago got drunk and filled his tank up with 87 octane (what his wife said cause she told him not to drive it) and 2 days later kaboom. So many things can come into play. I am in support of starting a thread of facts that guys that have had the bad luck posting their input.

The roush setup from the factory isn't putting out 7-800whp or 1000crank. I think what we are seeing now is the limits of the block, where asking a lot from a motor with tolerance that's not mint for the power where putting down I'm sure more failures will come.

Sorry about your motor :(

It'd be helpful if you could track the costs of the parts & labor. I'm curious to know the final bill to know what to expect.

Spun rod bearing or crank or pin?

i spun a bearing not melted a piston, a tune wouldnt spin a bearing and plus lund isnt the only tuner in the world
Have you seen the bearing yet?
Crank , crank at rod, or rod at piston?
Thanks. Best wishes on motor.
Know my motors due like any day the way I drive.

Its all a crap shoot. Some get lucky and some dont. The power and rpm levels are insane enough. But then asking it to tote around over 2 tons (yes, the equivalent weight of a midsize 90s SUV) at rapid speeds for years reliably is a bit much. If you can't afford to play leave your warranty in place and come have a seat by me. That's not directed at anyone, just a PSA.
