Did a full buff and wax last weekend and managed to grab a few pictures during a lull in the endless rain we've been having. I will be following up later with a photo series once I am able to get to an outstanding location without threat of rain.

Looks Awesome! DIB was second choice of color and love it! You should post products and the steps in order of what you did.

P.S. The painted calipers are on-point:thumbsup:

Sure. It was not an intensive process -- it's brand new paint that had been pre-worked by the dealership.

  • Wash
  • IronX (did nothing, not recommended unless you can see iron contamination in your paint)
  • Tape all plastics
  • Buff with 10" Craftsman orbital buffer/terry bonnet/old, thick, Walmart version of swirl remover (it still worked but it was really thick and goopy and needs to be replaced with the real Mirror Glaze version); removed with terry towels
  • Wax with Mequiar's NXT liquid wax, applied with 10" Weiler paper application bonnets (link is for 7"; I love these things - I've been working out of this one bottle of wax for almost five years!); removed with microfiber polishing cloths
  • Wheels hand-waxed with WheelWax
  • All black plastic treated with Cquartz... not sure how I feel about this stuff. It didn't do much, visually, to the brand new plastic (as expected) but I do see some streakiness. I might put down another layer to see if I can blend it in. I selected this because they claim it protects for two years, and I was aiming for oxidation prevention, rather than correction.
The moral of this story is that many of these overpriced/exotic compounds and tools are really more of a separation of money from fools, especially for new paint. You can get show-winning results with the tools of a commoner.

I painted the calipers with a G2 kit - full removal from car and lots of careful prep/masking to make them look like factory application. VERY impressed by the results!

LOL

I ordered RR, opened an account here, and then changed my order. :hitcomputer:
DIB is a great color. I've seen a few in person and they really pop when the sun hits them.
