OP reminds me of a guy that was in my friend group in my early 20s. Almost frighteningly similar behavior. The guy I knew, Polish kid, managed to blow the engine on 3 cars in one year. Then he landed a 350z and wanted to take it to car shows. So he takes a spray bottle and spray paints the entire engine bay red. Everything. Belt, pulleys, wires, radiator. Not a single part untouched. Then another couple months of cringey photos of this kid posing with this thing at car shows. Then he blew the engine. His sister was drop-dead-gorgeous though. I had to ask her if his screwed up speech was because he's bilingual and she answers "no, he's not mixing in polish. My brother's just an idiot."

You know... there's some stories that, once told/written, I really wish were made up. But that was a trip down memory lane!
