Ive had rear tinted plate covers since December. I also have 15% tint all around, luckily for me I have not been pulled over once.

Ok thanks ;)
Well, I mean, if being pulled over for that, you get a warning and a few days to go in and show em you took it off, it isn't so bad... But if you directly get a ticket, that a whole other story...
i don't think that's how it quite works. if you get pulled over again for having covers they will have a record of the last time when the run the license plates. there will be no warning, and you will be required to pay both the fine and show proof the covers are off (again).

Yeah, I got that, but I meant the first time... If you get one shot THEN if they catch you again and then fine you, that's pretty fair to me... But I'm not sure I'm gonna take the chance to get fined the first time lol

I got stopped a couple of years ago just because of a tinted front plate cover--same as above take the car to the cop shop--the officer didn't even come out and look at the car to see if I was lying. I now have a clear cover on just the front but thats illegal too--if I didn't have personalized plates I wouldn't cover it up. Don't forget even license frames are illegal too--its really something a cop can pull you over for with just cause

I can understand the issue of Police car headlights reflecting off the plate covers, but what it;s really about is the "Red Light Camera's". If they can't read the plate, no income to the city.

As a former Reserve Police Office in California, when I would affect a traffic stop and couldn't read the license plate (with or without a cover), after radioing in my location, description of the car and number of occupants, I would secure the car and the occupants, then walk backwards to my car and shined my flashlight on the plates and radioed that in as well as running them from my MDT.

California is pretty good about letting people put clear covers over the plates.

I'm constantly shocked at what I see on people's plates around Toronto. Covers that are nearly black, covers that are polarised or have fresnel lenses to block the view from above, plates that are obviously sandblasted or lightly sprayed with white paint or black paint....

I suspect the hope of getting a free ride on the Hwy 407 (toll road with cameras) encourages a lot of license plate abuse.

Why is it illegal to have covers on the plate trying to obscure from a picture being taken for radar but wholly bazzinga you can have a bike rack on the back with 5 peddle bikes on it and your lucky to see the brake lights go on :frusty::crazy:
