New to the forum, and I’m looking at purchasing a 2015 Mustang GT Premium. Debating between the coupe or a convertible. Leaning more toward the vert, but unclear how the interior noise level is with the Convertible with the top up in comparison to the coupe.

Haven’t been able to test a convertible to see firsthand as the only one near me is in the dealer showroom and they aren’t willing to take it out for me to test drive it, so looking for insight from the forums what its like at cruising speed both city and highway. I do plan to install the Roush Axle back quad exhaust when I order the vehicle, so trying to get a feel for what I can expect with an aftermarket exhaust.

idk about the 15 but my friend at work has the 2013 5.0 vert and he did mention there is a decent amount of wind noise

The convertible isn't as quiet as the fastback but it is very quiet for a convertible both at speed and when not in motion. I had similar concerns but was extremely pleased to find that the convertible isn't nearly as loud as the '14 Mustang convertible is.

It's more than twice as quiet in my opinion.

They installed a 10mm (?) pad between the outer convertible cloth and the headliner. From what I have heard, it was a significant sound improvement over previous models. (We ordered our vert. Just waiting for it to be built. :) )

I have the vert, it is very quit for a vert (I have had several). The wind noise and turbulence is also very low for a vert. My wife's hair only slightly blows, whereas it is unbearable without a hat in previous cars.

As previously mentioned, the new design of the '15 significantly reduces the overall wind noise and the padded soft top helps even more when the top is up. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I have owned the 2012 vert and now the 2015, and let me tell you that they have GREATLY improved the insulation on the top to where you can't even tell you're driving a soft top convertible.

You can hear how quiet it is even with my muffler delete. The only noise you hear is the road noise from the damn 40psi tires the dealer forgot to adjust

I test drove a couple of them... they provide more rear headroom than the coupe, maybe an inch (or a little more).

I have the convertible and love it! It's very quiet for a convertible and has plenty of head room. It really sounds like your driving a hard top.

It's pretty quiet now.. the insulated top goes a long way to minimize noise. Can't wait to put my exhaust on to hear it tho!

I'm sure it's not as quiet as a coupe but if that's really you're biggest concern about buying a ragtop you may want to rethink.

I will say that with the top up I'm able to use SYNC voice commands and talk on the phone using SYNC hands-free without a problem. Neither works at highway speed with the top down. I drive most of the time with the top down.

I also feel my stock exhaust is too quiet. I'm planning a Magnaflow Street cat-back system in the future. Want more growl, even with the top down.
