I checked:

“If convicted, the minimum first-time fine for stunt driving is $2,000. That fine can go all the way up to $10,000. You could also end up with six months in jail and a 2 year licence suspension. In comparison, the first-time fine for drunk driving comes with a $1,000 charge.”

Stunt driving is double that for driving while drunk. Do a pull 50km (not miles) over the limit and the big fines with the usual licence and car impounded for a week. You are NOT using line lock in Toronto. Don’t even ask what happens to insurance. Basically you sell the car. Say a prayer for us here.

Fear of insurance hike? I came up beside a guy in a nice white S550 GT last week. He slowed down, got behind me and then quietly turned into some side street. Where else but Toronto would that ever happen? Only in the dictatorship of Toronto!

Rant over!

You Canadians need to get your independence from the queen.

In Texas the fine for stunt driving is, well there is not fine for stunt driving. If they are so inclined they'll get you for reckless driving but that's only $200 for the first two times. Plus we have the highest speed limits in the country. One section of the 130 toll road is 85 mph. That would get you a reckless in Georgia and it's legal in Texas.

Once upon a time it was like that in Texas. In Edmonton, Alberta you didn’t even need real insurance you only needed to pay into some minimal no insurance scheme. Here you have to have it and the insurance companies hold you for ransom. Two thousand five hundred dollar deductible actually makes sense here as nobody notifies the insurance companies of an accident unless Big bucks are involved. The rate hikes are too much.

Hopefully I'll be dead before that rolls in down here. Then all the kids can have their self driving cars, face recognition iPhones and Dubstep sample R&B ballads and choke on em.

Well, I called Geico and got my insurance set up. I'll be pay $119/month for my 18 Mustang. Which is pretty cheap considering Progressive wanted $250/month. It starts on the 9th. And I ended up on my own policy since it is so cheap. Now just to wait till I receive my car! I'm getting impatient!

I agree with what my mom said Geico has treated us well. Never denied a claim. Even when my dad got his transmission fixed they didn't send anyone out there to look at the car. Even the transmission shop was surprised. They just gave them a credit card over the phone. I'm happy with my decision. And they have a mobile app. So no more looking in the glove box for my insurance.
