Probably a stupid question, but if you got a car without nav, would this would work for the navigation function?

I would download and load an all new "Navigation folder".
Let's start from scratch.
I will give that a try this morning, going to go get a nice new 8gb sd card.

I'm curious, any reason I can't load both primo and nextgen on the same card, in different folders?

Yes, these systems are for the people with base models.

Well I tried out the nav for the first time since installing the unit and I am confused:

First off the gps signal wasn't find with the receiver in the glove box but just left it there and was going to mess with it another day so I hit the exit button on the nav software and started up a music video, drove to my location about 10 miles away and then on the way home the nav sofware started to announce that I was going the wrong way and recalculated everytime I missed a turn off to go the other way, lol, all along it had dimmed the music on the video so low that I couldn't hear it.

So, I am going to move the gps receiver to underneath the middle dash trim piece on top were the regular gps receiver is/should but then how does one completely exit the nav software and how does one turn music/videos off completely just to run the nav software, not sure I am seeing this and yet again is there a document some where that states how to do all of this either online, in the unit etc?

Hey Terry, I went into GPS settings and changed AUTO to OFF. You will need to hit the RUN GPS button when you want to, well, run the GPS. With AUTO set to OFF, when you exit the Nav, you really exit the nav.

What if you were to get a premium, but without the nav option?
These systems are only updates for the 4" screen folks, if you have a 8" screen already, OEMRadio may have a solution for you.

OK, thanks, well try after lunch but what is auto/off doing?, are you saying with auto off that I then need to manually hit the gps button to start?

Yes. I'm still experimenting with the Nav myself, so I'm not sure if it stays on then, until you hit exit, or just shuts down when you turn off the car.

I got tired of it babbling at me when I thought it was off.

What I did notice, when I used it last weekend for a work run, 60 mi each direction, is that once you reach your destination, it doesn't stop. you need to go into Route Options and clear the destination.

Fun, fun, fun. Could use that manual right about now.... :paddle:

Hmm ok, actually my destination was stored in favorites, i presume the unit acts the same way in regards to that as well.

Yep, I just confirmed that, if GPS AUTO is OFF, you must rerun the GPS software each time the car is restarted.

Not to be difficult but what's with all the vague answers, you sold us these units for $500+ , how about a little more support.

What is this new software about to come out, features, etc and how is it being distributed to customers who all ready have bought a unit?

Still waiting for some kind of online factoid that describes in depth all the features of the unit and how to operate it, etc

Can the nav be operated by voice, what is the status of new nav software?

What is the status of the SD being able to be moved to the front?

Moddiction Helllloooooooo.....

Ok, I rewired the gps out behind the glove box, along behind the a/c vent trim piece up to the receiver sitting on the far right hand side of the dash, gps now locates every time.

Not sure exactly what setting you are talking about in regards to during off the gps but by just canceling the route after it is started for test purposes solves my problems. I have also figured out how to turn off music that was playing before I started the nav part, pause works or just turn the source to dvr aux which I don't have attached to anything, lol.

Will give it a new test tomorrow morning on my way to the store.

I also thought it would be cute to have the nav voice in a woman's UK english voice but after calling everything a motorway it was driving me crazy, will have to set it to something else, lol.

I think having an instruction manual or a little tips and tricks guide of some sort would solve some of these little quirks.
