A vehicle that gets you to school, work or wherever you need to go safely and reliably. That’s all anyone really “needs”. Anything else is a want. I hope that you understand the difference between the two as it will be helpful in life.
Why have car? Transportation by gov't is all you ever need Comrade.

I've been heavily considering taking the class, getting the license, and buying a sport cruiser. This thread was probably not the best read lol.

You're not understanding what I'm saying. If a lady on her cell phone blows through a red light, you're done. Nothing will save you from being T-bone'd. I pray that nobody goes through that.
Yes,
I hear ya, but again, as I said above, I refuse and will not give up something and live in fear.
And as I said above, We all have a choice.
I choose to live my life and will not give up something I have enjoyed my whole life doing.
Only You can make that choice.
A person can die in a car wreak, walking to Work, or any other, fill in the blanks.
If we all did not do what we enjoyed, than what's the reason for living?

I understand where you're coming from. To me, riding is not worth the risk and I'd prefer to reduce my odds of death. Just started a family so I need to try and be there for them.

Very respectable decision.
After 40 years of (legal) Street and track riding, it's ingrained so deeply in my soul I could never give it up.
But if I had a young family...that could change things for sure.

Yes,
That would make a difference. I am on the other side. My kids are grown and married.
Maybe once the kids are grown you can rejoin the bikes.
Who knows what we will have in 20 years. Flying bikes?
Good luck to you and enjoy those kids.

I been riding for close on 5 decades. Had a serious road accident years ago. Many , many close calls as well.
I have lost count of biker bodies, covered in a sheet I have seen on the roads.
I have lost friends .
But I still race , where I feel it is safer. Well kind of at least.
I say, if you like it, ride, just be careful. It’s full of idiots out there !
One life, live it !
