How to re-program used smart key?

Q: Can I re-program a used smart key from another car?

Per the manual, you can only reprogram a spare fob if you have the two original fobs. If you only have one then you will have to go to a dealer.

I had the same problem. The dealer wanted $165 for a new fob, which I thought was high. So I bought a new OEM fob off of Ebay for $55 and had a local automotive locksmith program it for me for $35.

Got a quote $85 to try to reprogram a spare key
