I would rather not get the performance pack on an EcoBoost if I go that route (so I don't HAVE to get snow tires), but I am really bummed that you don't get the GT brakes without it.

Can anyone comment on the regular V6/EB brakes? Better yet any known comparisons between the non-PP and PP EcoBoost brakes? Note that I am NOT referring to the GT PP Brembo package, just the standard GT/EB+PP brakes vs the smaller EB non-PP brakes.

Assuming they're the same brakes from the 2014 V6 (which they may not be, I'm not sure), these are carryover brakes from the 2010 GT. They're perfectly serviceable on my 2011 V6; they're not particularly fade resistant, but under normal conditions the tires are the limiting factor rather than the brakes in stopping distance.

The only time I ever had a problem with the brakes: We had an awful winter last year, and when spring came around the roads were just destroyed with potholes, just an absolute mess. I was driving in reasonably heavy traffic on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, but it was moving along at a steady 60 mph. Three cars in front of me, there was a rear-end collision, and so the car in front of me went from 60 to zero in about a second. I slammed on the brakes, but with the awful potholes my tires were bouncing up and down off the ground and I couldn't get any traction at all for the brakes to slow the car. My choices were to either slam into the SUV in front of me at 50 mph, or make a quick lane change without looking to see if there was a car next to me. In the 1/100th of a second I had to choose, I went with the lane change. Luckily enough, the next lane was free, and no harm no foul, but it came pretty close to me dying.

Well, I have a GT Premium which has 4 piston brakes and i have to say the are great. obviously they do not compare to a six piston brake. I have no complaints.
