That probably won't work, as the base seats will only have the electrical connections for the airbags, while the Tech seats will have power for the powered seat functions, connections to the HVAC module for the heat/cool functions, as well as those pesky airbag wires. So not only would you have to hack up your under seat harnesses to get the airbag light off, the new owner of those fancy powered heated cooled leather seats would not be able to move them or heat or cool them.
Is that how it is on the '15 Mustangs? I would have thought that they used the same wiring harness for all trim levels to cut down on costs and complexity

I would have thought that too, but for example when I was at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant watching my C6 being built, I was told that there were more than 100 different wiring harness combinations for the car. With computer tracking and just-in-time delivery of the parts to the assembly line, there's no waste from things like installing a harness with wiring that's not necessary for a particular car. Some manufacturers like Honda and Subaru do use common harnesses for minor wiring, such as an extra power wire for a rearview mirror, but that's primarliy for making it easier for dealers to sell and install accessories like rearview mirrors with a compass in them.

The tech pack seats do look very close in shape to the standard GT seats to me, but it's hard to tell from photos sometimes. I know Donson has actually sat on the tech pack seats, so he definitely knows what he's talking about. The Recaros look to me like the spacing between the bolstering might be wider, but with a sharper angle between bolster and back/seat. If I can actually fit between the bolstering in the Recaros I would love to save $7,500 on the car. Those Recaros really are cool. That's why I was hoping someone would have measurements.

I'm really leaning toward tech pack, but I still want to spend more time thinking about this to do my best at making a good decision.

Most glad that you shared this Hack...I was just about convinced that waiting might be the best option before considering an order just because losing the Recaros when going with the Tech Package was not appealing to me, but the pics shared have me reconsidering. If the pics are in fact the Tech Package seats, then I may be moving forward with an order.

Just for clarification, are the Tech Package seats the same as the ones in the GT premium, or a step up from those? It appears that seats can be 1) Base car seats, or 2) Tech seats, or 3) Recaros...I want to understand what what I might be getting should we opt for the Technology package...can someone help me to sort this out? I know the window of time available to order a 2016 will close quickly and I am in not in a hurry but want to know everything I can about the options available before jumping in.

There are essentially only 2 seat architectures as I understand it - the Recaros and the "tech seats" (the seats that look like the standard Mustang seats but with the fabric/leather mix). The base GT350 has a Recaro, the base GT350 with the Track Pack has the Recaros, the base GT350 with Tech pack has the tech seats. The GT350R has Recaros (the covering is a different style than the base GT350).

I have not sat in the GT350 Recaros like Donson, but based on his insights and photo comparisons with the optional Recaros in the standard Mustangs, I believe that you will really have to be tolerant of the bolstering if you intend to use the car on the streets a lot more and your body size is larger. When I sat in the optional Recaros for the '15s when they first came out (6'2" and 34 inseam, 235 lbs), I could tell that these would be too snug for as much as I would drive it.

Since the GT350 for me would be the occasional driver on the street, I could likely tolerate the Recaros but I suspect it's really going to feel tight, particularly for me in the thigh area, which is where I felt it.

I am planning on the base car because of price and the way I intend to use the car. If I was driving it more, I would probably get the tech seats. Your body may vary :)

My first choice would be the Recaros but that would mean giving up the "creature comforts" found in the Tech pack. It appears (from pics posted) that Tech seat bolstering will not be ideal for track use as with Recaros, but the difference does not appear to be huge. I've enjoyed Recaros with two previous cars but don't imagine not having them should be a deal breaker.

Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced both seats...if it means being tossed around in hard cornering/track use, then I'm out on the Tech seats. Depending on feedback, may wait to see if 2017 packages offer other options.

Bump. I emailed Recaro on May 30th asking about seat dimensions, but they never answered me. Did anyone else ever get info from Recaro?

Ignoring you is not acceptable! Recaro should have replied to you telling you that you would have to get the information from Ford. Recaro's contract with Ford (and other manufacturers, I'm sure) prohibits it from discussing the specs of the OEM products it produces.
