Good morning,

I’ve been chasing what sounds (to me) like spark knock on the car under acceleration. Thanks to some helpful folks here I learned I could log the data for various sensors through forscan over the course of a drive. I did that, then uploaded it to Claude to evaluate, as I have no real idea what I’m looking at. Might as well try AI.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could verify the clankers evaluation of the data. Is it correct that seeing -6 on the knock_sprk timing retard sensor is normal? I attached its review.

I am wondering if what I am hearing is some weird resonance between a loose part and the fuel pump or something, if it’s not spark knock

Happy Fourth!

having the log would be helpful, but it is correct that negative knock readings are the car trying to add timing and positive knock numbers are the car sensing knock (or something it thinks is knock)

Ok thanks. It gave me the opposite interpretation the first time until I pushed back on something lol

I can upload the log but it’s a pretty big file and I don’t want to ask people to comb through numbers in their spare time! Perhaps a google sheet is the way

I uploaded the log data here to google, i think this should work - first time was a crazy format in the forum post
