I tried to load my tune for the first time, and I am getting an error message before anything happens that says I need to update. Well, the X4 comes with a giant sticker on it that says update before use, so I had already checked. I am up to date. Just for grins, I tried to update wirelessly since I was sitting in my car, on the verge of tears. I got another error message, saying that the device is unable to find the update. I can't drive my car now, because I put the new intake on and a tune is required. I guess I could put it back to stock, but I don't want to. Wah.

I called SCT, and they wouldn't help me unless I was at the car with a windows computer and the tuner in hand. That's a lot to ask when your hours of operation are M-F 9AM-6PM. The man was super helpful letting me know that I could just do this on my lunch break though.

Anyway, I guess I have this to figure out now. Good thing I have another vehicle to drive.

Anyone else have any similar experience with an X4 tuner? I'd love to hear if you did and how you got it sorted out.

Please, no nguage fanboys telling me I should have gotten that instead.

Ok. So if i remember correct i updated the device 2 or 3 times before loading the tune. First you have to download the app from their website and then hit the update button while the device is plugged in to ur pc. And then, you activate the wireless on the device itself and update the device one more time, if i remember right i went back in to the app again and updated the device for the third time through my pc. Once the device is updated and you load a tune, it will lock the other tunes that came with the device depending on the purchase.

What you can do is, uninstall everything from your pc, reset the device to factory settings and redo all of the updates!

When I try to update via wifi, it says that the device has the latest firmware and tune revisions, Then after selecting continue, it says update error unable to check for available update. it's actually giving me that error message at different point each time I try. looks like there is something going on with the wifi updating?

I don't have the tunes. I'm trying to get them from the tuner.
Ok then! Here is how i would do it! Reset the device, uninstall all the software from pc from device manager, but also go to your c drive and erase the folder as well. Restart your pc. Install the software, go to device manager to activate the device to the pc ( follow youtube), then update the software without the device connected, then connect the device and update the device, finally disconnected the device and update via wireless. Do not try to load a tune during process!

ok I think that the tune went on with the wrong ecu part number. I have sent the corrected info off to get everything re-written with the right info. Hopefully this is the fix. probably my fault!
