Must be nice to have a friend who gets you the employee discount on everything....

It's not that complicated. Just ask Levittown to order the Ford replacement wheel not the Ford racing kit. Their price will be exactly like my connection because he can't sell for less than 10% markup either.

That is about $145. more than I paid for the 'standard' GT-350 wheel.
I personally do not care for the red band on the 'R' wheel. I find it to be a distraction.
Part or most of the price difference is that the R wheel comes with new bezels. If someone really wants the red band or red stitching for some reason, they could recover some of the difference by selling those as other forum members are. Then again, at least one member has added the red band and dyed the stitching red on the regular 350 wheel so that is a DIY proposition and lets you have the stitching and band any color you want.

I also don't want the red band so bought a regular 350 wheel.

Thanks, $419 is a bit steep....
They have a coupon code, which brought it down to $385...I originally ordered mine from Levi, but I could not wait any longer. So I just got it from CJ, $35 difference was worth it for me.

So is there any difference in the wheel? I didn't even know that was an option.

Exact same wheel minus the darker bezels that come in the Ford Racing Kit.

Levi is $282.50, that's more than $35

Hey guys, I know I already posted about it in another thread, but I figured I'd post here as well for those just monitoring this thread.

There's another option besides the GT350 and GT350R wheel for new steering wheels. You can get a customized one at Redline Goods. Especially useful if you want to color match your wheel to your car... or maybe you just want a completely smooth leather wheel instead of alcantara or the junky stock leather wheel.

You can customize the options here (click the add to cart button, then select colors and options:
http://www.redlinegoods.com/Mustang15shiftboot.php

The price varies depending on what options you choose, but you get to choose the materials and colors you want. Also, keep in mind, if you do go with a custom wheel wrap, you might want to pick up a spare wheel if your car is a DD. Luckily people who already have the GT350 wheel are selling them pretty cheap.

Anyone can easily dye the thread and the top band any color they fancy.
Years ago, I successfully dyed graphic designs onto leather belts during my go-go years.

plc268 Your R wheel appears in the photo not have a the 'D' shape on the bottom. Is the photo accurate or what?

I like the carbon center wheel cover.

It's not an R wheel, it's a wheel wrap

Yes. Stock wheel shape. If you wanted, I'm sure you can get the GT350 wheel rewrapped and keep the D shape.

I don't see any issues with dying the leather, but wonder if threads can be weakened by chemicals in whatever was used to color them. And of course, coloring threads in existing parts doesn't seem practical unless you are starting with white or light gray threads like in the GT350 wheels.

I know it has been mentioned somewhere, but is there anything special we have to do about cleaning alacantra or anything in general?
