So anyway.

Decided to Diamondbrite the Mustang this weekend and spent pretty much most the day ion her yesterday prepping and the diamondbriting. Mrs made some comment about doing her car and being blackand a bitch to wash,,,,her car that is, not the Mrs, I decided to do it. Captain Captur was getting the treatment!

Didnt take long but I did a really good job. Blacked the tyres, treated the black plastic trim, theres lots of it and shone her up good.

Anyway. All done and I just needed to park the cars up and the damned Captur would start. Battery was dead frigging flat. Yes, I had the radio on but not long enough for that.

Quick phone call to brothers and Dad found that we have no jump leads in the family so off to Dads to get his trickle charger. He came to the door with something that he must have had for years!

"Is it safe" I asked.

"This was charging batteries when you were still in nappies" he replied

"Yeh, thats hate worries me" I replied as he handed me the metal clad rusting 'made in Britain' charger.

A few hours later.....bear with me here, I am getting to the point, there was enough charge in the battery to churn her over and the 1500cc diesel burst into life!

Well, in needed to give her a run, just to get as much charge in the battery as possible.

This is when I realised that as much fun can be had in a Renault Captur as a Ford Mustang!

Me and the little Renault were at one as I went through the gears using every single one of the 4500 revs that were available. I cliiped the apex perfectly on every bend, getting the satisfying squeal of tyre rubber, confirming that I was on the limit.

I even had that reassuring double squeal when I went over a mini roundabout as first the front and then the rear wheels left and then kissed the ground.

I soon realised that I was enjoying this. There is something about pushing a little car to its limits, something I rarely do in the Mustang. I carried on with my jolly, pushing the car to its limits around the Winchelsea hairpin and then, on up the hill. Err, yeh, the hill. Thats when the difference between the Stang and the Captur really showed! I was down to secong gear by the time I got to the bend at the top.

But it got better back on the flat and with the roads being quiet, I tried a 0 - 60. After 3 tries I got to under 12 seconds. Yep, 11.55.

So, I soon got home and pulled up with a little respect for the trusty Renault. Parked in place I then had to move the Mustang back alongside her.

And wow! What a lovely noise as she burst into life, what a wonderful drive position, what a wonderful view looking down the bonnet.

Yep, as I looked back at the two cars I realised that they both do exactly what they are meant to do. I prefer the Mustang though.

There's just something about dCi that doesn't do it for me but The Beast looks great though

Wife's 3 cylinder, twin turbo Mini is tremendous fun. Actually, I have the occasional moment of fun in this Corsa
I find most cars can be fun in the right circumstances :)
