Imagine being someone who makes $50k-60k/year or less and reading this comment above.

You do realize half the country falls into this category, don't you?

Amazing.
Quite honestly, do not expect any inflationary relief or gas decreases. The President, senate congress and beaurocrats do not give a rip about any of us. "Go out and buy an electric car" is the best they can do.

Hello; I am one of those people. I am somewhat lucky in that being retired I do not have to drive a lot and my home is paid off. I never made more than the low $40 K as a teacher and only made that for two years in NC after I retired in KY. When I finally quit teaching in 2004 my last gross salary with over 30 years was in the mid $30 K.
I managed to save some by doing without for many years but my savings have taken a big hig with interest rates at near zero for well over the last decade. There was a very brief spell when interest got above 1% during the previous administration. But interest is still down below 1% even with the 1/4 point increase last week.
So yeah I pay attention to things such as inflation and the causes.

November you'll have a chance to get rid of some of the cockroaches in Washington.

The question is, are the potential replacements any better? lol

There are millions of people just like you in this country and that is perfectly fine.

What drives me nuts is comments from people like that fool I quoted saying "im not complaining! Its way better than Europe!" Completely out of touch with 50% or more of the country while being about as sharp as a marble.

What these buffoons don't get is that a 100% increase in fuel costs COMPLETELY changes the entire dynamic of life for folks making 50-60k. A surprise $500 burden increase each month is literally not affordable for millions of people.

"But, but... its better than Europe!!!"

Is that 21%? No.

Second, is it really an increase? Being "eligible" and receiving something are two different things.

The conversation around this is not political unless it is made political by people who spew false information. It gets tiring to read comments from people who don't bother to research anything.

Everything is seen through a political lens from some, no matter the topic. So much the mods have to monitor threads like we are a bunch of children.

Going back to my hole. It is all good...
Spending Bill Includes Pay Raise for Staffers, Not Members of Congress - FactCheck.org

“President Joe Biden signed a $1.5 trillion bill that funds the federal government and provides assistance to Ukraine. Social media posts misrepresent the bill by implying Congress members gave themselves a 21% pay raise. The bill increases House office budgets by 21%, which likely will result in pay raises for staffers — but not for members of Congress.”

"Second, is it really an increase? Being "eligible" and receiving something are two different things."

Hello; I get it. The staffers may not actually get a 21% pay raise. We do not know the precise amount of raise yet and technically the raise may not have gone into effect. However the nit-picking in your post does not make me guilty of posting false information. I do give you credit for a very nice spin job.

I am a little amused that you reposted after giving me the "last word". Amused but not surprised.

Hello; I watched a news story about what was in the new 1.5 trillion dollar spending bill and did get the part about the 21% increase correct. I even mitigated my comment to say i did not know the extent nor who the pay raise may go to in my original post. You and one other tried to make my post into something it was not.
I even provided a link. Your dry cry that I post misinformation when I clearly have not is getting old. That ploy to silence any whom you do not agree with is well known.

A funny conversation to be having on a Mustang forum. Most of us have spent that 50-60K on a single motor vehicle. In most cases it is not even a primary vehicle. And the additional cost of doing mods. And when we say that "The President, senate congress and bureaucrats do not give a rip about any of us" does that really include us. You know to a family that is in distress due to inflation and the rise in gas prices, we must should like, as one of my favorite TV characters used to say,...........You know Mustang owners. Bunch of bitchy little girls.”

OK, enough already. Take a look at what congressional office staffers make. Most of them need that 21% or whatever because they work for peanuts.

Hello; point taken. Those with money enough to have a 50-60 K$ toys that are not a primary vehicle have it better than those of us who do not make enough to do so.

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
Well, at least the Russian bot is now gone. I do not disparage the plight of any human or American like he did. $50-$60K in annual income isn't poverty like some of you are implying. I feel for those in poverty and certainly their plight and struggling with inflation.

Funny, just noticed that as I had him blocked.

I am in total agreement with you. Think about it. $15 an hour minimum wage working a 40 hour week is $600 before taxes. After taxes $528 (12% approx). That's $27,456 a year. For a family of four that is poverty level. $50-60K would be a godsend for those folks.

"ignore" feature is the equivalent of a 5 year old child picking up sandbox toys and going home because she cannot have her way.

You cannot figure out how to articulate a point with an opposing opinion, so you run away and hide.

Im amazed, but not surprised!
