Almost everytime i go to the pump i have to forcibly hold the pump down. If i try and just lock the lever which keeps it pumping, the pump pops out of the hole. Id say its about a 70% chance that the pump wont stay in the hole.

Anyone else having issues with this? Im thinking of taking into the dealer but i wanted to see if other people are experiencing it or is it just me?

pretty sure it has happened to a lot of people. i read that flipping the pump handle upside down actually works. pump continuously shuts off on me when i try to fill it normally but i have tried flipping it upside down and it actually pumps to full without stopping. i heard it just how the gas hits the wall of the filler neck and causes a bunch of bubbles and the pumps think that its full so it shuts off. not sure if there is a fix or not but i just pump upside down and hope i dont get looked at like an idiot when filling up

I've had it happened too. I think it's because of the spring that's on the pump. The "foreskin" that was mentioned above. lol. I don't think it's anything to do with the gas tank opening. Try putting a little bit of pressure down on the handle when you lock it. That way it will "grip" the hole opening better. That's what I do and it works.

Ive tried pushing it down to the point where it feels like im bending the pump nozzle. Honestly the whole no lock, no gas cap thing is pretty stupid on Fords part. Basically anyone can walk up and do whatever they want with my fuel system whether they steal my gas or maybe someone pouring something into the tank. Sometimes i wonder what goes through the minds of these Ford Geniuses.

I don't like it either. They should have at least have the door lock when you lock the car. Like you said, anyone can just get near it and pour something in it just to be an a**hole.

you are partially correct. someone could definitely pour something in so that sucks but there was a member on here that posted he got a siphon hose stuck in his filler neck because however they designed it you cant put the hose down and then get it back out. somehow it gets hooked or stuck on something so you shouldnt have to worry about someone stealing your gas but i think someone does make the locking gas cap protectors. not sure how they work or how much they are but ive seen them while browsing around.

if you can get the hose down, wouldnt you be able to take the gas still? also how did he end up getting that hose out if it got stuck? seems like a lose/lose to me...lol

I have, on multiple occasions, felt like an idiot having the gas stop pumping on me 3-4 times in one sitting cause it kept popping out. Ugh. I just hold it myself now
