Since Ford were kind enough not to offer the HomeLink feature on our cars, I went off in search of a suitable cloner remote control for the garage door on my apartment complex and came up with this.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal-Cloning-Cloner-433mhz-Electric-Gate-Garage-Door-Remote-Control-Key-Fob-/361496255132?hash=item542adb1a9c:g:5uIAAOSwQYZWy88P

Looks a lot better than the clunky remote that I have in the car at the moment and fairly closely matches the shape of the key fob for the car.

This will only work on fixed code systems on the 433 mhz frequency.

Will report on the success or otherwise of this venture once it arrives.

Actually they do offer homelink. I got it with my premium gt. Works well, but I still have to go thru the side door to close the door with the garage button, if I don't want to carry a remote from the house.

So, I ordered the Garagio add-on system, which works via my iPhone. It works so well I don't really need the homelink buttons in the visor, since I always have my phone with me. I think it works with Android too. I have an ancient garage door opener. If it works with mine, it will work with most others (even tho mine wasn't listed as compatible). Works with Amazon Echo, also.

Once my car arrives I'll start thinking about this... as of now my garage doesn't even have an electric opener, hopefully it will before the car arrives

Ah yes, now I see that. Well, Garageio claims it will work on the other side of the world via internet. Here's the link:

Wouldn't you be able to just buy a american drivers side sunvisor with homelink in it, and plug into passenger side of Aus spec mustang? There would have to be power there for the mirror with vanity lights? so just plug and play, would match the side of the car the hood release is on hahaha

Was thinking of doing that, but I was reading somewhere that they may not be compatible here. You are right, though, it is plug and play (well, at least it is in the US).

Will have to do some more research.

I'm going to the US next month so was hoping to try and see what the clip for Aus spec looks like VS US if any difference, then buy one when over there and bring back for when mine arrives

The Home link remote uses a different MHz than our 433 . Having done some research I'm going to give the open-sesame Bluetooth adaptor a try . Their tech support confirmed it is compatible with my garage remote motor (Marantec) and I can just use my smartphone
