My bad. Sync 3 is needed for the My Sync App for phone app remote start. The main stream looks to be through a key fob and add on module.

Now that would be a handy feature

Don't know how it is grey if a car that is locally devolved and built can have it.. Pretty sure they would have had to guarantee it was more than grey to include it. Could understand what you are saying if you were referring to some cars available here from overseas manufacturers.

Also I take it you don't live anywhere where it is regularly hot? Remote start would be damn nice in the NT, trust me. But anyways yes it's dissapointing that it is another feature we miss out on, but of all them, this is provable the one I am least concerned about.
It might be ok in the NT, but unfortunately car manufacturers don't make territory specific vehicles. If they put the feature on an NT car then the person drives to NSW, they'll get pinged.

Good quote there that's reasonably accurate:
"What is governed is a running vehicle left alone, and the Australian law states that if the vehicle is running, and the owner moves further than 2 meters from the vehicle, it's declared "unattended" and that's when you breach a law."

That makes it "grey" - the remote start feature is not illegal, but it can be illegal to use it in large portions of Australia.

I haven't studied it in depth (because I don't really care) but I'm told its illegal in Germany to remote start your car. So, since the Mustang is sold in Europe, and presumably Ford didn't want to build: a US edition; a Europe edition; a German edition; an AU NSW edition; an AU NT edition, they just went with the simple option and disabled remote start for them ALL.

Not illegal to fit and use as long as not left unattended on a road or road related area.
that issue aside how can we get it working on an Australian spec Auto Mustang. Can we buy the OEM hardware to fit and program. The American Spec key fobs can be purchased for about $150.
Has anyone made inroads into making this happen ?????

I can't comment on other cars but the VF's remote start will automatically turn off if the car isn't switched on before you put it into drive while the key fob is in the car. If a thief or anyone for that matter tries to drive off while remote start is on the car just shuts off.

Remote start is definitely required for NT weather! David, check this link out. I'll probably order a dongle and give the programming a shot, will let you know how I go and if all good we'll hook yours up too!
