Front Bumper Replacement

Hoping those of you who have replaced your front bumper can help me out.

I've seen videos and read instructions, and it seems like a fairly straightforward process to remove and replace the front bumper. Am I correct that this can be done with just one person? Or should I get a buddy to help me out?

Like a dufus :doh:, I poked a hole in my front bumper (see the first pic) when I thought I was in reverse, but was in first gear, as I was trying to back out of our parking garage at work.

I purchased a new takeoff bumper off of Ebay (see second pic) which should be delivered in a week or so. I went ahead and purchased the entire assembly, including top and bottom grilles, although the grilles in the current bumper are still in pretty good shape. It's going to be like having a new front end on the car.

My only experience taking off the front bumper is when I helped [MENTION=15080]RobbieFrazier[/MENTION] replace his upper and lower grills. It helped to take off the front wheels for more access. Pay attention to remove the screws and tabs that hold the front bumper inside the wheel wells. Its very easy to break the bumper tabs, so hopefully the bumper you get will have those intact. If they are broken or missing, I would ask for a refund, otherwise the bumper will hang out at the edge of the fender/bumper.

Its a good thing your replacement bumper has the grills intact, because they are a PITA to remove/replace. We did not remove the lights on Robbie's bumper so I can't speak to that. Make sure you have a friend help with the removal/install, since the bumper is a little unwieldy for one person to move with. Make sure you have a blanket to place your bumpers on when doing the swap. Just be patient with the removal and install and it should be fairly straight forward.

It's really easy - the fist time I did it I used this video as a reference. You can definitely do it by yourself, just be careful of the sides catching when you lift it off.

I did it myself when I changed to gt grilles, only difficult thing is that small 7mm bolt on the corner tabs! but it's easy after that and the top screws under the radiator cover don't tighten too much cause the hole covers or whatever they go in are a rubber/plastic and will start bending/breaking if you tighten them to tight

It's really easy - the fist time I did it I used this video as a reference. You can definitely do it by yourself, just be careful of the sides catching when you lift it off.

Thanks, John. That's video that I watched. I thought he did it by himself and it didn't look too hard. Just have take your time and be careful. And I'll probably use my Steeda jacking rails to raise the front end up and take off the front tires and wheels.

last thing is just to be sure the belly pan going inside the splitter

This is the video I watched to remove it I guess you can use it to put it on as well
