They only made 50. So they don't want customers beyond well funded, experienced teams.

Correction that was the FR350, even less GT4s. I don't even think you can find a price on them, suggesting they are not availible on the open market at all.

Thought I saw a price of $175,000 somewhere.

This is roughly true. GT4 being a cost-capped series, the cars are meant to sell somewhere around this price.

It's true that GT4's are built in highly limited quantities (from what I understand, they're basically built-to-order), but sales aren't limited to teams. I know a few well-off people have purchased them as track-day cars.

As for the FP350, MSRP is $115,000 and you can buy that from any Ford dealer :)

That has one, plus ADM. And none have them, and the ADM is probably astronomical, because they only made 50.

You know people who have GT4's, or you heard rumors of people who have GT4's?

The last generation Camaro GT4 was $200,000 with a stock Tremec gearbox. A stock McLaren 570 street car is $200,000.

I doubt that the current cars (including the McLaren GT4), which now all feature full on racing sequential gearboxes, that cost more than a new GT, have gotten cheaper.

Definitely would not be surprised about this.

Personally don't know people who have, but I am aware of a few sales through my work (in the not-too-distant past, I had some involvement with some of the car's design work).

You are indeed right, my figure is off. Initial couple cars went out the door a bit cheaper due to agreements to assist with further development. Regarding the way the cost cap works, it's not strictly tied to the price of the car, but rather the total operating cost for the team. Manufacturers can sell the car at a discount and increase support costs and still remain within the cap.
