Aren't you some sort of racer, @WCRookie99? Explain it for him.
Haha, funny.
BOP (Balance of Performance) is put in place because #1, this form of racing is a "Show". It's not good for anyone to have one type of car lap the field and win every race.
So the reference TeeLew posted is, IF IMSA decides that the Mustangs are too strong, they will penalize them (all Teams not just the winning car) temporarily (or longer) to balance or make parity in the field.
Now, I actually don't believe any action will be taken against the Mustangs. Why?
1. Mustang GT4's are always fast at Daytona as it's best asset is it's Engine.
2. The Porsche GT4's were only .3 a lap slower.
3. Porsche GT4's were on the Pole and lead a large portion of the race. (3) of the top Porsches suffered tire failure/suspension, otherwise it could have been a different result.
4. One more lap a Porsche was charging with fresher tires.
Yep, there's strategy with BOP and I will say one of the Aston Martin Teams ( JV as the Team manager) he's one of the best ever and may actually be the GOAT.
So, even if no BOP will be assessed to the Fords, most tracks on the schedule will not favor the current Mustang GT4.
