I was just wondering who else on here works for Ford. Whether it be in sales, as a technician, lot boy, or at the plant. I am sure there has to be quite a few of us.

I used to, not any more thank god!
What did you do for them ?

I've been a Ford Tech for 23 years.
Nice, what's your feelings on how much the cars have changed. I know some of our techs that have been doing this longer aren't to happy about cars essentially becoming computers.

After I had some chat about cars, the manager figured out I would be a good "fit" for his dealership, I got hired the same week my S550 arrived. :D

Starting the 2nd of January at Ford. "Delivery coordinator"is the job position.

How the cars changed?
I drove:

Ford Consul, 1974, yellow.

Ford Taunus, 1982, blue.

Ford Mondeo, 1997, silver.

Ford Mustang, 2005, white.

The steel did get thinner and the plastic got every model more. Quality was good, got worse in the 90's and after changes in the management beginning with the 1998 models better again. The "wave" in the auto world to "re-invent" nice cars did start with the beetle I think and Ford looked in 2000 I guess in there drawers and produced the 2005 Mustang model S197. My "dream" car. Seeing drawings from the S550, I have known that I will order one if it would only a "little" bit close to it when Ford will build it.

I think that Ford made again a little bit a step to a more quality Build car. Not as close as BMW/AUDI/Mercedes - but more even to VW level. But it still can't beat the sound of my old Ford Consul when I closed the door. "baamm" - sound of steel! :D

Die design, machining, programing, cutter path repair, then cutter path programming.

All prototype, my white building in Livonia was making alum body panels in late 1999.
We had our own foundry, milling ( I was in ), stamping, 8 ancient presses, assembly dept, model dept, cimm and QC. Only thing we didn't do in that little building was paint. We had full alum cars and trucks then. Ford, audi, gm, jag
