With knowing that E85 breaks down oil quicker than gasoline when are you guys changing oil. I won't go 5,000 and am coning up on 2,600 miles. At $12 a quart x 8 = $96 plus $15 filter comes to $111 an oil change. Price to pay for performance. So how many miles are you guys running your oil between changing??

What oil is $12 a quart?

Anywho I use Amsoil SS, first oil change out factory oil at 1,000. Second oil change at 6,000 UOA said 5,000 was fine, but blackstone didn't suggest any longer yet due to engine still breaking in. Quite a few E85 tanks mixed in that 5,000 miles.

Amsoil signature series 0w40 has been proven to work well on supercharged/e85 cars.

When you sent to Blackstone were you running E85? If so they said that oil was fine after 5,000 miles?? $12 a quart Joe Gibbs Driven oil which is blended specifically for our Coyote engine. It has to do with the hydraulics.

Yes in that 5,000 mile interval there was quite a few tanks of E85. They said it was fine, but iron was a little high but dropping from the 1,000 mile UOA. they recomended only going 5,000 on the next change again and see if the iron finishes dropping off as the engine finishes breaking in. Fuel & water contamination showed next to nothing, but I am not FI which might add a touch more.

Oil itself was still great, just a bit high on iron.

Was hoping that only F/I members on E85 would post. Oh well.

Just got off the phone with Blackstone Lab. They do oil analysis for combustion engines. Should of just called them in the first place instead of opening a oil thread. Through their testing of many E85 fueled F/I engines they do NOT see any oil viscosity breakdown. This is with healthy engines of course. They say run oil for 5,000 miles. I will end up changing between 4-4,500 Mods you can close this thread.

Blackstone is a class act. Gladly take their time to communicate with "the little guys".

Before I was supercharged, I was daily driving on E85. Sent in a sample of my RP 5w30 to blackstone for a test including TBN after 5k. They said I was good to go to 7500 miles. No breakdown of the oil, no ethanol in the oil, and very little wear. I changed it at 5k (that's how I got the sample) and switched to M1 EP 5w30. I have yet to send that sample in though. Not sure I'm going to or not.

Yes. Agree. Very nice guys there. I asked for a sample jar back in october and they never sent it. They checked and sure enough they dropped the ball. They sent out 2 for me today and apologized. Very nice company to deal with.

N/A much different than F/I. I went from 85mm to 79mm, 75mm and now 72mm pulley on my Roush blower and am curious of what the oil will look like. I am changing oil this weekend and will pull a sample. I will share my report with y'all.
