and I am guilty of some of it. Everyone on here wants all the info right now and it is frustrating but I have an issue with public posts that Ford is blowing this launch. Before I realized I was $50 bucks away from an X-Plan Mustang I seriously considered other brands. I went to Chevy dealers in Massachusetts and inquired about the C7 and Camaro 1LE. A little background I used to sell Lincoln Mercury product way back in the day, back when a Navigator was a $975 commission. I went on test drives with current(at the time) Red Sox / Bruins players (yes I'm old) I understand both sides of the fence, my boss was a former Ford Rep, his former boss was his partner...i.e. they knew the business.
My employer gives me access to Supplier discounts for both GM and Chrysler, my Wife drives a '14 Wrangler bought at 1% Below Invoice. So my salesman side say's someone pulling in the lot driving a brand new car: 1. Does not need a car 2. Has already qualified themselves to have funds to purchase a car.
My former boss (I understand he has slightly become more calm with age) would have reached over the desk and stabbed me in the throat with some expensive designer pen after wrist punching me with his $30K Rolex if I did not do a work sheet on any semi conscious human form that set foot on his lot.
....anyway, I went to dealer after dealer showing my hand (guy with money) to inquire about a C7 and/or Camaro. I soon discovered that many of the Chevy dealers in my area make you feel like you need a shower just after walking in the showroom. If you could actually get someone to acknowledge your presence you may feel the need for a sexual assault kit. I attempted to discuss the order of these vehicles and was met with "we cant order Corvettes". Wait what? Apparently since the economy took a dump and the tax payers bailed out GM/Chrysler, as you know many dealers got cut and only certain ones survived. Of these dealers I went to none of them sold enough Vettes to have allocations for the new C7. My understanding at the time was that only two dealers in Mass could actually order a Vette from the factory. They might have one in the showroom but it was purchased, yes purchased from a dealer as far away as Cali.
So as an impatient d*** without a VIN for a '15 Mustang (apologies to Tricia) I ordered on 5/20-24 I started to get bored and figured I see my other options knowing the background so I do build and price, no vehicles match my search...big surprise. I decide to contact GM to find out more information.
Email I sent: I have a GM supplier discount and seriously considered a Z51 Corvette but my local dealers in Massachusetts were either not interested in even acknowledging me when I walked in their showrooms or giving me any honest answers regarding ordering a new Corvette. They were more than happy to sell me a new SS (because that's the same thing). I have since heard most dealers do not have allocation.
GM Response: Thank you for contacting Chevrolet and for your interest in the 2015 Corvette! We appreciate the time you have taken to write us and for allowing us the opportunity to assist you this afternoon. We attempted to contact you by phone but were unable to reach you at the provided number.
We are excited to learn you are considering the Chevrolet Corvette for your next vehicle purchase and we are more than happy to assist you with your inquiry. First, we would like to apologize for the experience you had will visiting the dealership. Please be aware you have the opportunity to visit other Chevrolet dealerships.
For the 2014 model, production in schedule to end at the beginning of August. Therefore, you will most likely will not be able to place an order for a 2014 Corvette. For the 2015 Z06 model, the allocation process will be announced later this year and are expected to arrive in early Q1 of 2015. Pricing will be announced at a later date, but the 2015 Corvette Z06 will deliver the power and performance comparable to the Corvette ZR1, at approximately the same price range as the previous-generation Corvette Z06.
Since a single factory can only produce a finite number of vehicles in a given month or year, General Motors has established a Vehicle Allocation System. This system was developed at the request of our dealerships to ensure that vehicles are allocated in a fair manner, and designates a certain number of vehicles available to each dealership for each model year; vehicle orders cannot exceed that allocated number. Allocation is also spread out over the model year by quarter and month. Only the dealership can give you the most current information on their specific allocation.
Again, thank you for contacting us today regarding the Chevrolet Corvette! It is our pleasure to assist you. At Chevrolet, we strive to provide exceptional customer service, and welcome the opportunity to earn your business. If we can be of any further assistance please email us or call 1-800-950-2438 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am to 9pm Eastern Time, and Saturday 9am to 6pm. Thank you for contacting Chevrolet!

The Chevrolet Marketing Team
Really? Z51 is not a Z06, you didn't answer any of my questions.
I respond (yes I'm an a-hole, it's a Boston thing): You completely did not answer any of my questions. You are as about as useful as your Mass dealers. Who is the Boston Rep. I want to speak with him.
Never expecting a response I get this: Thank you for contacting Chevrolet and your interest in the 2014 Corvette! We appreciate the time you have taken to write us and are delighted to assist you with your inquiry.
We are excited to see that you are interested in the 2014 Corvette for your next vehicle purchase and apologize for any misunderstanding with our previous e-mail. With the 2014 Corvette being a newly redesigned vehicle and that it is in such high demand, most dealerships have not been able to keep any on their lot for longer than a few days and in fact most that are seen on lots are vehicles that have been specially ordered by their customers. While dealerships would be happy to assist you in ordering a Corvette to meet your needs, they will no longer be able to place an order for the 2014 model year as the 2014 model year Corvettes are scheduled to end production in August and all orders must be submitted and accept 4 to 6 weeks prior to the end of production date. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I share this to highlight how much better Ford is at customer service. Ford wins this round. Stop complaining that you don't have a HP number, the car will be better and apparently dealers are willing and able to sell them to you.
I promise to stop bitching about my lack of VIN until next Thursday.
Side Note: I found one Chevy dealer, Liberty Chevrolet - the Internet Manager who didn't make me feel like I was violated. I cant say the same of the salesman that almost had his hand broken on a test drive because he kept f-ing with the radio and navigation during my test drive...of the only Recaro 1LE I found in New England.
