folding mirror issue?

I'm with Steve in thinking it's LHD thing they didn't bother to re-engineer for RHD.

As for the seats, I could've sworn I saw somewhere that it's only the base that heats/cools anyway?

I doubt its a RHD/LHD thing to be honest. The US mirrors are completely different. Also, why would you go to the trouble of fitting a motor that only folds the mirror in by a micron.

People have reported that only their base that heats/cools, but apparently this is due to a fault rather than by design.

They're different only in as much as the vertical dimension of the housing & glass is taller on ours; you can almost guarantee the internals/motors/fixings etc are the same.

Just had one of our friends over in the Aussie forum who's taken delivery today to check theirs, exactly the same. Looks like its by design then ...

Picked up mine today and it does the same. Had a close look and the passenger side black 'wing' that holds the mirror is far more swept back than the driver's side.

Driver's side sticks out almost straight, hence why the fold looks different on each side.

Car is fucking awesome btw and a real laugh down my little country lanes with the 60mph limits. It's getting dirty in this foul weather very quickly.

I'll head out later tonight when the traffic has died down.

Well spotted - you might be the first person to have actually noticed this. I didn't, I focused on the mirror. Just been out to look and once you've noticed it, it's really obvious.

Glad you've finally got the car and are enjoying it by the way.

Or the opposite might be true. The 'stalks' are different, but this may be universal, for all export (or even US?) cars and favour LHD. Aside from the faulty mechanism on our drivers side (not as much an issue if on passenger side), this might explain the slightly odd view you get in the passenger side mirror.

Hmm, to my mind if the mirror housings aren't set at the same angle then the passenger side should be more swept back than the driver side. When thinking about old cars where you had to adjust the entire mirror unit by hand (yes kids, by hand) you always had to pull the passenger side more towards the car to get the right angle.

If the car had a passenger mirror at all that is, and it wasn't right out there at the front of the wing...but I digress... :mullet:
