Flat bed trailer straps

I’m trying to strap down my GT350 on a 20ft. flatbed open trailer. I believe that the front tires will be able to be strapped over the top of the tires and then to the sides of the trailer stake pockets. The fenders are in the way of doing this in the rear. An earlier thread talked of going through the wheels and then to the back of the trailer. Will going through the wheels wear off the paint on the wheels? Would there be another option that I’m not seeing?
