Driving to work yesterday on the Bruce Hwy and the car in the lane next to me flicked up what I think was a piece of a truck tyre retread and ended up with the following damage on the bottom plastic panel in front of the rear wheel.

The scratch/mark is about an inch long and I can feel it under my finger.

Any suggestions on the best repair soultion? My gut feeling is the repair will require a panel shop repair.

Also anyone have suggestions on where to get touch up paint or a touch up pen from?

Small scratches on plastic bumpers can be fixed by a decent mobile touch-up mob, around $150ish with 1 scratch.

It doesn't look that bad in the photo, I'd try polishing it and see what it's like cleaned up. Hopefully you'll be surprised at the result

Yeah I'd give that a go with Meguiars Scratch X or similar in the first instance.

Friend of mine recommended Meguiars Ultimate Compound for a scuff on my car, it works very well. Got my bottle from Supercheap:

Funny I should see this thread at the top as I was about to make my own regarding what I found today while washing it (apologies if I am hijacking, I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to create a similar thread). The damage is at the front of the passenger door and as it is on the inner edge. I thought it was from rubbing against the front guard but when I went to open and close the door, it comes close but does not touch. Is this damage from contact with the front guard? I can't think of how else it could have occurred. Thank you in advance for your help!

I dont think it's from the front guard itself...you could open the door slowly and watch it, but something like a small stick or stone may have been caught in the gap and gouged the door as it was opened.

That gouge looks very similar to what I have on the back bumper in shape and size....

If it was from something wedged between the door and the guard I would suspect there would be paint missing/damaged on the guard

Buy some touch up paint and fix it yourself. It's what I did with my stone chips. Dr color chip is what I used and it worked out great

Is the dealer going to fix it?

Thanks for the advise everyone, I've given the scratch a good clean (haven't polished the area yet), it's a little better but it feels like the plastic has been dented.
