I don't think her's was the first one made (i.e., S/N 1), it was the first one actually sold to a customer. Pretty sure the first one made was white.I thought the first Mustang ever sold was serial number one, on display at The Henry Ford in Dearborn.

Correct, the Wimbledon White convertible in the Henry Ford is serial # 00001. The first Mustang built, from sometime in March 1964. The blue convertible in this story was the first one sold to a customer, two days before the “official” on-sale date of April 17th, 1964. That car’s owner lives a few minutes away from where I work, funny enough, and I have seen that blue ‘64-1/2 on the road a couple times. It’s stunning in person.I don't think her's was the first one made (i.e., S/N 1), it was the first one actually sold to a customer. Pretty sure the first one made was white.
The Henry Ford article puts serial number one's sale date the day before this car as well.I don't think her's was the first one made (i.e., S/N 1), it was the first one actually sold to a customer. Pretty sure the first one made was white.
