Why on Earth should it bother you to be marketed to?:
I am just amazed at how people are marketed to, appear to know they are, but don't mind
Because I feel violated by those who try to manipulate my thoughts and feelings for personal gain  I know I'mWhy on Earth should it bother you to be marketed to?

Would you rather you not be marketed to? I imagine you'd feel left out. Seems to be what's going on in this case (not you specifically, but others as well). The tone of the ad, the use of hashtags and @'s - it speaks to me, my generation; it gets me excited.I am just amazed at how people are marketed to, appear to know they are, but don't mind
I mean... that's capitalism for you. There's no violation in somebody trying to convince you to do something you'll enjoy that will also profit them.Because I feel violated by those who try to manipulate my thoughts and feelings for personal gain  I know I'm![]()
I can't continue this conversation on here. Sorry.I mean... that's capitalism for you. There's no violation in somebody trying to convince you to do something you'll enjoy that will also profit them.
Ummm yeah, that commercial is offensive. Why can't the father have the Mustang and pick his kid with the hair disorder up to take him out for the day? #FordDoesntLikeOldPeopleWould you rather you not be marketed to? Not only is Ford trying to bring on a new generation of Mustang diehards, they're going for themes that can be applied globally.
I think of the term "This isn't your granddad's Mustang". Yet, at the same time, you're granddad would love it too (check out the Mustang film "Pops").
Start the revolution Tim!Ummm yeah, that commercial is offensive. Why can't the father have the Mustang and pick his kid with the hair disorder up to take him out for the day? #FordDoesntLikeOldPeople
This one is not offensive to any gender, race, age group, culture.

Yes.I dont mind someone marketing to me but I do take offense with the latest marketing trends. I cant honestly think of a time, since I've become an adult, I've purchased something based on a marketing campaign. Marketing should be about education and building excitement around a product. What it has turned into is soft selling the customer using a range of nostalgia, special interest groups, what the current trends are and emotional mumbo jumbo. I personally feel this is what you are referencing when you discuss manipulating your thoughts and feelings and I hate it as much as you do.
Your add should show me a race car driver (Randy Pobst) doing a hot lap in the car and getting out with a big grin on his face and then talking about the cars performance...That wont sell me the car but it will peak my interest.
Leave the marketing campaigns that include dogs, emotional stories of first loves, hip trends, babies, soldiers and car nostalgia on the cutting room floor. If you buy a car based upon an emotional TV commercial then I have some bad news for you.
