Hey all, I'm new to the forum and need help. Has anyone installed an amp and run the power cord from the battery through/around the firewall to the amp?

yes. I have. I don't have my car right here to look, but I know there is a rubber grommet/port way up high on the passenger side. I poked a coat hanger from the inside of the car out, and then I removed the passenger front tire and fender liner and I was able to get the wire up from there inside the engine compartment. I hooked my amp wire onto the coat hanger and pulled it back through and then ran the amp wire to the trunk under the door sill plate.

@thehotrod thanks for the response and info. I hadn't thought of removing the front tire and fender liner! Great idea. I found the grommet/port you mentioned, but there is some kind of "filter" preventing me from fishing the wire straight thru. So I'm guessing that I need to fish it downward toward the wheel well and go from there. Thanks!

I wish I could remember. I may have had to force it through or use a sharp object. That was more than a year ago. Good luck.

Any chance that "filter" is the air cabin filter?
Or is it sound deadening/insulation material?
Just curious.

It looks like more like an air filter to me. I had pulled it out just to confirm, but didn't think to take a picture before re-installing it. Behind the filter was a wire-mesh screen, so that pretty much indicated to me that it was an air filter.

Forgot to update with my progress. I removed the front right wheel and wheel well cover. Unfortunately, I was unable to find access to the cabin thru that area. Back to the drawing board!

Hmm. Sorry. It was a year ago. My son seems to have the same memory as mine. I don’t want to take it apart to look right now. It is too cold and snowy out. Later this spring I need to run another switch wire through the same spot. I’ll try to get photos then. I know it doesn’t help now. Sorry.
