Hey all,

Ok, I know I'm not exactly a new owner but I am when it comes to the GT!

Happy 1000 miles in already and my biggest concern is a mystery noise - we've all had em, we all hate em!

I get a "slipping/scraping" noise from the clutch, only in first, just at the very top of the biting point before I release the clutch fully. I flagged this with the guy who sold me the car who said a few people had mentioned it, so it was "normal" but not every car seemed to display it. His explanation was that it was the "thrum"?! i.e. where the clutch engages, it tends to slip slightly and makes the noise I described to him. Good to know that it wasn't only me, but you know how it is with these things, I would be a lot happier if it wasn't there! Any advice?

Is it just me, or is the dipstick a bitch to get out? Found it a lot easier on the EB...

Re oil - I don't want to open up a can of worms here, but if I was to grab a litre of Catsrol Magnatec (the Ford labelled one) 5w20, would that be a good choice for topping up?

No idea where to get the right coolant either. Ford seem to have them in their parts catalog in a range of colours but not the pink ish liquid we see in ours. Any idea where I can get this?

Cheers

I used the pink stuff from halfords, magnatec is fine, the dipstick "sticks" and is a bugger to read.

To answer your questions:

- My clutch, drivetrain makes zero noises, it works normal, but many hear complain that their rear view mirror vibrates at 70mph, mine is rock steady at all speeds.
- Dipstick is tight, loosens with time, oil wise ONLY put Ford approved 5W-20 in it, Castrol is fine, buy it from Ford!
- Coolant, seems US fill is red, UK is orange, either is fine, again buy it from Ford or request they top up FOC as its new car!

Other than that, just drive it, enjoy it and do not worry, your car is new and has warranty, so just drive it, if it breaks they fix it, SIMPLES. :)
