This has just started recently. I've noticed in gears 1-3 a faint clicking noise on acceleration and deceleration(engine braking) between 2-3000rpm, with no increase in volume or frequency of the clicking with engine speed. That is to say that it doesn't get louder, nor does the clicking get faster with rpms or speed.

What could it be?

I get the same clicking, I narrowed it down to centric ring in wheels I believe, once it heats up and expands its gone. Its really the only thing I can think of to make that kind of noise?

I get this too, but it only seems to happen on an incline or decline. Very rarely on a flat road. It is quiet, but I can still hear it over my exhuast. I don't seem to get it over 25 mph though. Also quick acceleration I do not hear it... I'm assuming my exhaust overpowers it though.

Possibly a manual only thing? All 3 of us are PP cars it seems

I hear the clicking when slipping the clutch in first or in reverse

I don't think I've ever heard it in reverse. Slipping the clutch or clutch engaged I get the noise. Even tried full clutch in and it doesn't go away. Also like the OP stated, the clicking doesn't change with engine speed and/or ground speed. Definitely does go away though over 25mph-ish for me.

I can still hear it at 40mph, but it's still only noticeable for me in gears 1-3. I can't hear it in gears 4-6 at the same speeds I would in 1-3. It's a strange problem.

I tend to only hear it when I am next to jersey barriers or large structures that reflect the sound. I have heard it in an open parking lot but damn do I have to listen hard. Part of that is my Borla Atak's washing the sound out. It is a very faint noise. I appreciate you guys chiming in, I've been trying to pay more attention to if this happens if the car is warm or cold. For now it seems only when warm for me which doesn't line up with most the comments here. Gonna listen more intently when the car is cold to see if there is a difference for me.

Also, is the sound consistent for you guys? The frequency is all over the place for me, but tends to make the noise more around times of accel or decel (or anything that causes or has the chance to cause more vibration than steady state coasting or maintaining low speeds). Also still more frequent on an incline or decline for me. That being said, I have times where I get no noise for a few hundred feet and then it comes and goes. I almost wonder if its a rock/pebble stuck somewhere. I am at 5k miles and I have already pulled about a dozen pebbles stuck between the pinch weld area and my side splitters.

Definitely does not vary with speed or rpm. I sit in a lot of traffic so I get plenty of low speed opportunities to listen in.
