I’m going to go out on a limb here and ask a crazy question...

I’m an American (from Detroit!) but I live in Japan. I’ve had a few mustangs here, but all localized for Japan through Ford. Now that Ford is gone here, there are only a few direct imports from the US. Not localized and no manual transmissions, only automatics...

I’m curious if anybody can recommend a good dealer in Australia that might be willing to work with me on getting a AUS spec ‘18 mustang and exporting it to Japan.

It’s a long shot, but I thought I would ask.
Thanks!

It may be a long shot but who knows. I do know Australia has some ridiculous rules about importing but maybe exporting is easier.
Try Mustang Motorsport in Melbourne, they probably can help or know someone who can. http://www.mustangmotorsport.com.au/
I think they may be the ones that were previously importing S197s and converting them to right hand drive.

With a quick Google I found these guys, maybe try them too. http://www.performaxint.com.au/

Mustang Motorsports sent some to NZ this week, so they should be able to help. They're not a dealer though, they are a LHD conversion / Mustang specialist mechanic.

For cars themselves, check dealer websites and/or carsales.com.au which is our biggest car sales site.

It's relatively easy to take a car out of Oz, once you have it. I just shipped my GT to New Zealand and the process to take it out of Australia was as simple as de-registering it and booking a shipping company.

Every country will have different rules about importing the car in terms of tax, impact and safety standards and quarantine, so that will be important to figure out.
